Labor Day gave us the opportunity for a restful holiday, and we spent morning shopping for Kong's air-conditioner. Since we couldn't make the outright decision (so many factors to consider!), we opted to take a break for lunch at the Wan Chai restaurant along Congressional Avenue in Quezon City. And since that entourage was a big group--Erica, Mikaela & her kids, Annella & her kids, myself and Kong, I took the opportunity to order a wide variety of dishes:
We were quite hungry, and when the dimsum cart passed by, we couldn't help but start off with Ha Kaw and lumpia wraps. Quite tasty, the kids liked these very much!

Salted Fish Fried Rice, the favorite fried rice! |
Soy Chicken, which was tasty and still juicy |
Beef Ho Fan, a dish that my friends from Hong Kong liked to order |
Lo Han Chay, the one vegetable dish that Annella likes |
Salted Pepper Squid, Vicky's favorite--alas she wasn't around to try this dish... |
Fried Fish Fillet in Sweet Sour Sauce, a special request by Annika |
Sauteed Scallops with Brocolli--my idea of a good veggie dish |
Minced Pork in Lettuce Leaves with Hoisin sauce--you've gotta use your hands! |
Oyster Cake! Yes, it was gooey and tasteful |
It seems that we pigged out again, but while plentiful, the serving sizes were just good for 3-4 people. The number of dishes just allowed us to have a glimpse of their cuisine--dishes came in hot and fast. We finished the meal with some Korean ice drops. All in all, Kong spent something like P350 per person. The restaurant interiors are pretty much okay, but I thought the lighting was a bit dim though, probably because the sky went overcast for the good part of our lunch.
