Going back to our clan trip to Tagaytay, we also stopped at a pasalubong store called Loumar's, which was right before the Mazapan store. The specialty of the place is buko pie! The pies have a delightful crust, not too thin nor too thick, and inside you can find bits of young coconut in a sweet starchy filling. As a variation of this, the store came up with buko tarts, which are smaller and easier to hold and bite.
Buko pIes and tart boxes (6 tarts to a box) are around P150 each, and when you are lucky, you can get the buko pies still hot from the oven. I like visiting this store because as an added feature, they have a small koi pond at the entrance, and it never ceases to amaze--these koi go into a feeding frenzy if you throw in fish food pellets, which the attendant will gamely hand over to you to throw in.
