Bugsy's

It was time to celebrate a double birthday for myself and Tito Jorge, and I decided on having Sunday lunch at Bugsy's along San Agustin St. in Salcedo Village.  This restaurant was conceptualized around the mystique of the American pre-war gangster Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel, who is loosely credited as the mob's driving force into Las Vegas (he oversaw the construction of the Flamingo Hotel).  It was a rainy Sunday, and we had a little difficulty getting in the restaurant (Mommy Dee had to climb around 5 steps up), in the windy weather condition.  As we got settled in, however, things started to go well with the appetizers--the restaurant is famous for buffalo wings and we had that with some fritters and croquettes.  As an added munchie, we ordered some fried meat rolls, onion rings and squid rings.  I might add that the restaurant turns into a bar right after office hours, and thus, the appetizers are quite amazing drink companions.

Mama Dee, Vicky and the Callars started off with some salads--Caesar's Salad and Taco Salad were a popular choice.

We had individual orders, and I just can't remember who had what, but the food came out within reasonable waiting time.  Serving portions were good, and the kids particularly liked the sidings.  Among the orders we had--breaded fish fillet, burgers, pork chops in cream sauce, USDA rib eye steak (it was juicy, flavorful and quite large--Vicky thinks this is a value-for-money proposition), and pasta.

Mikka just loved this ice-cream topped lava cake, and I think this is the only thing she ate for lunch!  The rest of the kids also found it quite yummy!

I understand that the chain has branches in both the Fort (Burgos Circle) and in Alabang.   It's a nice place to relax, several TV screens show sports channels, and the bar is well-stocked for after dinner drinks.  I've the place packed specially on Friday and Saturday nights, a destination for the unwinding office crowd.  Our tab came to around P600 per head, which is very reasonable for the stuffed tummies that we had!  If you look at their logo (shown below), you will notice the mobster hat on top of the letter "B" which defines their take on their namesake; the interiors are lined with pictures of the man which make some interesting read (his nameplate is reportedly prominently displayed at the Flamingo in Las Vegas).
